Can you believe the holidays are already upon us? As cliche as it sounds, this year has really flown by!! I've been busy organizing inventory and trying to get some items ready to sell online and as easy as this sounds, it really does take a lot of time. I've been doing some Christmas decorating around my house and thought I would share a picture of my front porch. I try to do a little something different every year just to make it fun and this year I thought I would skip the outdoor lights and instead just display one simple thing that symbolizes the season.
Although I haven't had time to post on fabulous places to stay, I'm still keeping up with my tumblr. Check it out here and follow me if you desire... Until next time.

Stay here.....Can Alaya, Ibiza Spain
Nestled in lush surroundings on a hilltop just outside of Ibiza, lies this beautiful ancient farmhouse called Can Alaya. With two pools and terraces, this villa allows you to enjoy sunrise from one pool and sunset from another. Decorated with a mix of Morrocan and Balinese touches, this old farmhouse has been given a chic new life with modern amenities and accomodations for up to 10 people. I love the mix of styles used here and the organic touches from the wood pieces. Restaurants and shopping are a short distance and Ibiza is a 10 minute drive. For rates and reservations, click here.

Recent Finds.....
Happy Friday! I've been looking at past posts and realized I haven't shared some of the items I've picked up recently. I've been out shopping a lot looking for particular things that of course are harder to find when you are really looking for them. That's the way it goes when you are shopping for vintage items. The silver lining in this was getting some other items that I couldn't pass up. That is what makes it all worth it. Here are some recent Guest House purchases.
A really nice moody lithograph with an old gesso frame.
More old books. This batch is mostly in french.
I love this chair even though the color of the faux leather is hideous. I will be having this chair redone and will pick a better color of leather this time around probably in a distressed brown. The color of the wood will be left as is and although you can't see it, the natural patina of the wood is fabulous. As for the footstool, it could really go anywhere and be covered in anything. I could see it painted white with a really bold boho print which would be great. I could also see this painted black/brown with a zebra patterned leather top. Or, left as is and recovered in linen. The possibilites are endless with this little piece of functional architecture.
The colors in this covered box are vibrant and pretty. I like the crest and the painted detail on the top (shown in picture). It's stamped Neiman Marcus on the bottom so it's probably no that old but that's OK.
I will be suggesting some of these items to a client I'm working with first for purchase but if they are not interested, I will be listing these in the Guest House Shop. I'm making it a priority to get better at listing items in the Guest House Shop! Have a great weekend!

Room Service.....The NoMad Hotel
Located in the North of Madison Square Park (NoMad) neighborhood in New York City lies this chic, vintage inspired hotel called the NoMad Hotel. Furnished with artwork from vintage shops and outfitted with claw foot tubs, these rooms feel more like apartments with a European feel. Special touches like the Library Lounge provide an opportunity to have a drink and browse through the extensive collection of curated books. There are several options for dining, but my choice would be a spot by the beautiful fireplace imported from France. This hotel is definitely on the list for my next trip to NY. Stay here..... East London
With the Olympics officially under way, I thought it would be great to show a rental close to the games. This rental is located in the Spitafields community in Shoreditch, East London. It has two bedrooms each with en suite bathroom, fully functional kitchen, music room (with harpsichord) and a lovely garden. Full of charm and architectural details, this town home is wonderfully furnished with an eclectic mix of vintage, modern and antiques to create a very warm environment. You even get to have the company of two friendly cats throughout your stay. This rental is family friendly and requires a minimum 5 night stay. For additional information and rates, click here.
